The current design of Dropbox Paper is Not for your daily typical use for document editing. You Probably Will Reach Some Limitations At Some Point. If you are currently nearing the end of your Free account space limit, one way is to invite more friends, or pay for an upgrade to their 1TB account for Dropbox Pro, which costs around US$99.00 annually. The overall usage of Dropbox Paper is to encourage more content to be added to your Dropbox folders, which will inevitably take up more space. Should your teammate preferred to just work separately, then probably you have to tune back to Google Docs, as Dropbox Paper requires the login of users to track on who added, edited and deleted the content on your document. Not everyone uses Dropbox as a medium for doing document work or even ideas-generation for now. The best of things that I personally find about the Dropbox Paper app, are its abilities to (i) Collate multiple collaborators together for an “ active discussion” of an idea, (ii) Throw in multi-tiers of other online medias easily, without a need to manually screenshot or seek alternative ways to get the media on board for easy preview, and (iii) Not distract me from just focusing on building up an idea, or even sparking off other new ideas, rather than suddenly went off tweaking how the images are placed.Įssentially, it just worked so well as a brainstorming app, and to actively just bounce off ideas, when everyone is working on the browser application altogether. Functions Very Well As A Brainstorming Tool. Just copy-and-paste your media URL and the app automatically handles the rest! C. The interface provides “ add-on” controls that makes it easy to insert other online content such as videos from Vimeo or Youtube or even idea-boards from Pinterest or audio clips from SoundCloud, to help boost the idea that you want to bring across to the discussion team. Ease Of Integrating Various Online Media. If you have used and likened the way worked, you would probably liken what Dropbox Paper has to offer. No excessive controls that may distract you from focusing on working on your content or idea generation. The interface is clean, simple and straight-to-the-point. The beauty of the app, was like a marriage between Google Docs and Medium, where essential functionality is met with simplicity in design and user experience. Previously, it was often odd to attempt to discuss these creative concepts, on Google Docs, as functionally it is a document editing app, or even on Trello, as it is rather commonly used as a Project Management tool. Regularly, there is a heavy reliance on online images or other media to help the team visualise my idea, and get everyone on the same page. Ideally, Dropbox Paper is built to fulfil a widely-felt gap in the creative and idea-generation sector, where I frequently brainstorm on ideas and photoshoots. However, on a second glance at their introductory videos, I have noticed a very subtle difference in Dropbox Paper’s unique selling point- An Online Content Integrator Discussion Board. My first reaction was: “Who needs another Google Docs app?” Initially, the app does seem like another duplicate idea that works exactly like Google Docs. It is a new web application developed by the team at Dropbox. Google Docs is a great tool for document preparation and editing! But for ‘idea-generation’ wise, it just isn’t the tool that I would preferred it to be. Usually, I would actually spend extra time just to do general formatting on the layout of images and content rather can focus solely on growing the idea, which essentially waste away precious time and led me astray on my original train-of-thought. It just doesn’t automatically make it ‘ nice-looking’ in layout placement, which did irritate me often, as eventually, this could be the idea document I would want to release out directly to other professional teams or even clients. The app doesn’t really ‘ pool together’ the essence of visual-imagery or random bits of online-idea-media together, for me to ‘ drop-off’ and continually work on multiple ideas. However, being someone who often brainstorms a lot, with ideas jumping all around, I often find Google Docs a little too rigid as an ‘ idea-collaborator’. Many of us are typically used to having physical meetings, brainstorming and drawing up on ideas on large sheets of paper and the faithful drawing board.Īs technology advanced in recent years, Google Docs came along, and eventually helped to revolutionise the way we collaborate online - Where we essentially ‘ connect’ teams together, to effectively work cohesively on a work document, despite the differences in physical locations.
